R.W. Stevens & Company in Deanston Drive, Shawlands is a real family tailoring firm well into its 7th decade, as it was established there in the early post war years. But the founder R.W. Stevens started gaining his experience in tailoring and school outfitting back in 1931 when he left Shawlands Academy to start his career.
Carrying on the family tradition his son, Douglas Stevens serves his apprenticeship with John Owen, Sam Peters, Michael Sanky and others.
His brother-in-law, Mr Paul Davie also brings a wealth of experience to the business which has expert staff giving first class service.
R.W. Stevens has been the first stop for thousands of pupils as they prepare for varying school years and school outfitting is still the main part of the business. They cater for 28 schools including Hutchesons' Grammar, St Aloysius and Fernhill.
Uniforms are not restricted to schooldays as they have everything form Brownie to Beaver and Cub uniforms and on to Guides and Scouts.
From schooldays on to the special occasion attire, they have a superior Dresswear Hire Service including full Highland Dress for adults and page boys.
Specialists in tailored Highland wear, they have all accessories including shoes, evening dress, bow tie, shirts and cummerbund.
An alteration service is available and if it can be done - R.W. Stevens will do it.
